Zork

Walkthrough by Bruce A. Smith

This is where it all began. Your objective is to collect 19 treasures and return them to the trophy case.

There are two elements in this game that are random, the battle with the troll and the thief. Because of this, it is recommended that you save the game often. Do not despair if the thief steals your valuables during the game. The more he is carrying, the easier it is to defeat him at the end. In fact, it is necessary for him to have the jewel-encrusted egg at some point during the game in order for you to win. However, should the thief steal the torch from you before you have gotten the diamond from the coal mine, you may want to restore the game to a position where you have the torch. Otherwise you will have to defeat him earlier than this walkthrough suggests to solve the coal mine puzzle. This walkthrough functions on the assumption that the thief does not take any of your treasures. If he does, you can either restore the game to the previous save or you can simply keep track of what he has taken and recover those items at the end.
