Game Walkthrus The Infocom Page is a member of the
Adventure Games Coalition

Before the high resolution computer graphic adventures of today, there were text adventures. At its prime, Infocom was the ruler of the text adventure gaming world. Today, these games remain classics. People still play them and many more are just discovering them.

The first Zork games are now shareware and available free for anyone to play. You can download the game files here:

Zork I

Zork II

Zork III

The above three files are self-extracting executable files and when you run them, you will be prompted about where you want to save them. I strongly recommend against saving them to your desktop because they contain multiple files. Instead, create a directory for each game on your hard drive and save them there. Other than that, I provide no technical support for these games.

Zork: The Undiscovered Underground

Zork: The Undiscovered Underground comes with a program called WinFrotz, which will enable you to run other Infocom games in Windows if you already own the DOS versions. The file is a .zip file and should also be saved to a separate directory on your hard drive as well.

To the left are links to my solutions for every single text adventure ever released by Infocom (plus solutions to a few of their graphic adventures).

The solutions here are unique in that they are presented in "walkthru" format so as to give you a step-by-step guide through the games. They are more concise than any other Infocom solutions I have seen on the Internet. Some of the solutions contain abbreviations like "I" for inventory and "N" for north. These abbreviations will work as written if you are playing the games.

I suggest that these solutions be used only when hints are desperately needed. Better yet, once you have completed a game, you can use these walktrus to revisit the games, find out different ways to beat them, or improve your scores. They can also be used if you are interested in printing out transcripts of the games.

My solution for "Zork Zero" was previously published in The Book of Clues, edited by Shay Addams.

My "Leather Goddesses of Phobos 2" solution was published in Quest for Clues - The Manual of Swords also edited by Shay Addams.
